OLD RAILROAD LINES

Hi my name is John, I have been metal detecting for about 3 or 4 yrs now--------------occasionally I read your posts etc. and always admire your finds. I live in Lake Elsinore and have been looking for information on old railroad lines. I know there used to be one that ran from San Diego throught Lake Elsinore and up rail road canyon through canyon lake and on into Perris. BUT where exactly it ran is still a mystery to me. Any help with this would be appreciated. I metal detect all around Lake Elsinore, parks, beaches vacant lots ball fields and last week my brother inlaw and I checked out an old gold mine off old El Toro Rd. ( found 27 cents)

John, thanks for writing and for watching our forum/website. I don't know the answer to your question, but I recommend that you contact the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA. Not only should they be able to answer your question, they may be located right next to the track route that you are referring to. They may also be able to suggest search locations based on where old stations or depots were located. You can contact them at the following:
